Have been doing a couple of demonstrations; None come up for a year, then I get two back to back. The first was an oil painting demonstration in Woodbridge with a lovely responsive crowd. I showed them how I work from a photographic source as I thought it would be useful. I squared up the canvas and the photo, then copied it on to the canvas in green and did the under painting, then after the break I showed them how I develop the work further by working on "one I had prepared earlier," they seemed to enjoy it. Yhey asked me back to finish it next year. The next night was a portrait in charcoal. Again another friendly and kind group. I took my son along as the model and he very kindly sat, jerking to attention when I commanded, "wake up." I find everyone always snoozes when they are being drawn; I like to say its because its relaxing, but I suspect the truth is its boring.....
Everyone watching seemed to enjoy the experience, they gasped as one when I rubbed out the eye to redraw it, and there was an audable, comunual sigh of relief when I adjusted the arm... we all decided together that I should redraw the hand.....great fun. I am touting to do more demos. Anyone out there feel free to contact me...
